This workshop held by Marianna Santoni is done for:

• professional photographers, even with a decennial experience;
• advanced photo amateurs;
• entry level passionate photographers.

Characteristics of the workshop

A unique experience:
• this is the Official Photographic Workshop of Ivrea Carnival - www.storicocarnevaleivrea.it
• you will have a RESERVED PASS, personal and nominal to realize a fantastic photographic reportage of the oranges battle from the square, the balconies around the square, the Saturday night parade, and the Carnival "behind the scenes", as the preparation of the floats for the launches and the orangeries.
• the organizational workshop team is composed of Marianna Santoni and her staff of professional tutors.
• you will be follow up also individually… but with the efforts of sharing a fantastic experience with other passionates.
• you will study PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHIC TECHNIQUES related to REPORTAGE: from the extreme action situation (as the Battle of the Oranges) to the PHOTOGRAPHIC STORY of an ancient tradition, to the shooting techniques in WEAK LIGHT CONDITIONS (as the evening parade and the fireworks), with technique close examinations that allow a better COMPOSITION control and SHOOTING SETTING of the camera.

The workshop will take place with a minimum of 10 participants.
In any case, we have a master photographer each 15 participants.

  Presentation of Ivrea Carnival and its traditions.
  
  
  From the late afternoon to Midnight.
  Transfer to Ivrea city centre.
  Reportage shooting into the "arancieri" bases during the last arrangements before the parade.
  Street photography waiting for the General (Generale) and the Miller's daughter (Mugnaia).
  Reportage shooting during the "masked parade" following step by step every "arancieri" team.
  Fireworks during the parade, along Dora Baltea river, meanwhile the Miller's daughter is passing.

• SUNDAY 19th February
  h. 10.00 a.m.
  Transfer to Ivrea city centre.
  Reportage shooting during the fagiolate, the "Preda in Dora" ceremony (launch of the stone from the bridge) and the last arrangements before the battle of the orange.
  
  Packed lunch in Ivrea city centre.
  
  Afternoon
  Preparation of the tools to be protected by the battle of the orange.
  Reportage shooting during the "battle of the orange" and Miller's daughter historic parade.

• MONDAY 20th February
  h. 10.00 a.m.
  In the class to download your memory cards, make backups and select the photos.
  Selection and commented slideshow of the photos done till now.
  Editing and comparison with the participants about the problems they had during the shootings.
  Technique focuses to correct the mistakes done and analysis of the difficulties.

  Trip to Ivrea. Reportage shooting during the "battles of the orange" in some Ivrea squares, end.. relax ;-)

  Reportage shooting dedicated to the "final battle", to the prize giving for the best thrower on foot and by horse, the "Abbruciamento deli Scarli" and the "Carnival funeral".

Since the beginning of her carrier, Marianna Santoni received many awards and prizes for her qualification and her qualities in teaching.
Every course held by Marianna Santoni is very intensive, full of motivating force and contents: an high level formative experience both for beginners and for professional photographers with many years experience.
Since many years Marianna Santoni brags about international fame professional photographers among her students.

The Staff

Andrea Badoni, master photographer
Andrea Badoni deals with advertisement photography since more than 20 years.
He is specialized in particular in portrait, fashion, big yacht sailing, and aeronautic photography.
He realizes photos for many catalogues and advertising campaigns in national and international magazines as Yacht Capital, Solo Vela, Grazia, Amica, Class…
Some of his historical customers are Gattinoni, Sergio Tacchini, Scaglione Cashmere.
He realized many collections in the leather industry field for Morgan De Toi, Pierre Cardin, Mattioli, Lancetti, Trenitalia, Gruppo bancario Credito Bergamasco – Banca popolare etc.
Since 2009 he's photographer of the America's Cup in Valencia.
Among his "war awards", he brags a shoot of a Boeing 747 at the take-off time from the middle of the strip… neither the pilots can explain how he obtained an official authorization to do that…so, please don't ask it to him ;-)

Davide Vasta, videomaker
Web design expert and creative videomaker, Davide Vasta is author of more than 30 specialized books. Among his best sellers: the first SEO manual in Italian and the book about Dreamweaver (at the 4th edition). For more than 17 years he has been teaching advertising communication at Accademia di Belle Arti in Perugia and since 2004 at Università degli Studi in Perugia. Among his most recent videos "Sailing in the fjords" that in the first week obtained more than 10.000 visualizations. He is the official videomaker of "Ivrea Carnival" workshop and he follows us in every moment to create our super-video every year.

Gaspare Grammatico, tutor and logistics
Since 2008 he strictly collaborates with Marianna Santoni. He deals in communication, brand identity and web applications.
He's the creator of the most innovative events and formative projects done by the team in the last years.
He is an Adobe Certified Expert (ACE) in Illustrator and a 360° visual communication expert.
Graphic designer and web developer (PHP and MySql in Apache program), he is author of some articles in specialized magazines.

Maurizio Tentarelli, photographer and expert tutor of Ivrea Carnival
Maurizio is all along a passionate photographer.
A great expert of everything about the Carnival of Orange.
During the workshop, he constantly follows the participants with Marianna Santoni staff. Always ready to assist or clarify any doubt about the timetable of the event, the hidden and secret corners and the behind the scenes of the Carnival.

At the registration you will reach a confirmation email with the ticket: please, print it and bring it with you the workshop day.
It has a bar code useful to make your check-in faster.

Tools, photography equipment and dressing code

• an important preliminary remark: the Carnival will take place with or without rain..
• a reflex photo camera (one more spare for people who didn't have or a compact one on store);
• the lenses that you usually use (don't exaggerate: you don't need a war arsenal!);
• USB key with almost 2 Gb of free space;
• a personal card reader;
• a portable pc to download and select the photos;
• an hard disk for backups (suggested);
• a rain jacket, great pants and comfortable sneakers;
• comfortable shoes for walking;
  
  
  

Clothes for the "battle of orange"

• "bad, but comfortable" clothes: we will get dirty and stain a lot;
• an old key way, better if long and comfortable to not loose mobility;
• walking boots, combat boots or small boots (it's easy to slide during the battle);
• a mask for protect your eyes (optional);
• we will provide all material to protect the equipments. If possible, bring the cheapest lenses and camera you have for the battle of orange reportage.

At the registration moment, please sent:

• a portfolio of your best photos or projects (a maximum of 10 high resolution JPG files)
• a self-portrait where your face is clear (an high resolution JPG file)

The workshop is for beginners and for professional photographers who have a decennial experience. It foresees, apart from Marianna Santoni, other tutors who will support all participants in every moment of the day: from the most simple and banal clarifications, to the most advanced doubts.

There is a master teacher every 15 participants.

The participation fee is 900,00 Euros + VAT (21%) per person.

The contribution includes:

• 4 full immersion workshop days during Ivrea Carnival of Orange with Marianna Santoni and her team. About 14 hours a day.
• the participation diploma signed by Marianna Santoni (delivery at the end of the workshop);
• block notes and pen;
• all internal transfers among the workshop locations;
• 1 coffee break a day.

All companions who will not participate to the workshop have a special price that includes room and board.

N.B. The fee doesn't include room and board and transfer that you need to join the workshop location.

Meals and rooms are in the same place for all participants.
